Andy has over 12 years experience in the construction industry and has concentrated on domestic property projects for the last 7 years. He originally qualified as a Mechanical Engineer and has worked on a variety of prestigious construction projects around the world including the Jubilee Line Extension, the Petronas Twin Towers and LRT2 (new underground) in Kuala Lumpur. In 2002 he decided to change direction and work locally in his home county running his own business.
Designing & installing kitchens & bathrooms provides plenty of challenges and most importantly provides the satisfaction that only a creative hands on role can provide. Successfully transforming someone's home, particularly a kitchen, is very rewarding and satisfying. Kitchens are the heart of your home, a place for eating, entertaining and working and whatever your lifestyle, your kitchen needs to look good and work well. Andy carries out the vast majority of the work himself with help from specialist trades where necessary (Gorgi Registered Plumbers, Part P registered electricians and plasterers). No-one actually enjoys having a new kitchen or bathroom installed, as it is disruptive, but everyone enjoys the end result and it is that customer satisfaction and sense of achievement that makes it a rewarding career.
Andy has lived in East Sussex all his life, originating from a farming family that has been traced back to 8 generations in the county. His career in a variety of hands on and technical roles has provided an ideal background to carry out work on domestic property and the flexibility and professionalism required to succeed in a variety of environments is reflected in his approach to his customers.
BUY WITH CONFIDENCE SCHEME
Andy successfully joined the East Sussex County Council "Buy with Confidence Scheme" in June 2006 which was designed to give consumers peace of mind when choosing local businesses and particularly tradesmen working in people's homes. The scheme is an initiative by ESCC in association with Trading Standards, to help businesses comply with the law and improve consumer protection through a partnership approach.
The Buy With Confidence scheme puts consumers in touch with Trading Standards approved traders who have agreed to provide high standards of customer service, including dealing promptly with any complaints.
Approved traders are vetted before they join and agree to:
- ensure that all staff are suitably trained.
- respond promptly and correctly to customer complaints.
- ensure that all staff who carry out work in people's homes have Criminal Records Bureau clearance.
- ensure that all relevant insurances are in place. (e.g public liability)
- work complies with current legislation
Before any trader is included on the scheme, Trading Standards obtain several customer references and make various checks on the Traders, including checking terms and conditions, trader knowledge of consumer protection law, professional memberships, knowledge of their own business and complaints procedures.
In addition, Trading Standards will provide a mediation service if there is a dispute that cannot be resolved between the parties concerned.
